Mindfully Me - New Year Reflections

Writer's picture: HRCHRC

The common themes around this time of year are those of celebration and new beginnings, with many of us participating in the New Year tradition of making resolutions and setting intentions for the year ahead.

This can also be a good time to reflect, review and contemplate the past year, taking time to celebrate your wins, share your joys, mourn your losses, acknowledge the challenges you faced and the brave steps you took to overcome them. A whole year has passed since the last one. How have you changed and grown? What has led you to be where you are right now?

Why not take some time now to connect with yourself and reflect on the last 365 days? Here are some questions to help you get started...

What am I most proud of?

What was the most challenging thing I experienced?

What was an unexpected joy?

Where am I feeling stuck right now?

How did I nourish my soul this past year?

How did I incorporate peace and rest?

Do I still feel a sense of purpose in my life?

Do I still feel passionate about my career?

What lessons have I learnt?

Who were my most valuable relationships with and why?

How did I incorporate creativity and fun this last year?

How did I take care of my mind and body?

What did my finances look like this past year? How do I want them to change in the year ahead?

Have I been open-minded and accepting of things out of my control? How can I improve this in the new year?

What are my biggest accomplishments and achievements and how can I celebrate them?

Is there anything I am procrastinating or putting off?

Am I happy with my time management? How can I re-structure my time and schedule for the coming year?

Where am I experiencing self-doubt?

How have I shown myself love, kindness, compassion, empathy and respect?

How have I shown those things to my loved ones?

How have my loved ones shown those things to me?

How can I improve my relationships in the year ahead?

Do I have any regrets or resentments to remedy?

Is there anything I want to forgive or move on from?

What can I do to hold myself accountable this year?

What 3 things or people am I most grateful for right now?
